Curteis - Since 1975 Brand Film

Celebrating 50 years of Curteis, from their unconventional rural beginnings, to one of the leading precious metal producers in the UK today.

Curteis are a British jewellery producer founded in 1975 in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, who have grown to become one of the UK’s leading manufacturers in precious metals. Designing, making and supplying jewelry products throughout the UK and internationally. Their interesting story, a family shifting from farming to jewellery, is a unique story arc and one they wanted to celebrate as they were nearing their 50th anniversary.

The marketing department had gathered a treasure trove of archived documents and photographs from the last 50 years of Curteis, including a wonderful old ledger which belonged to Henry’s father, the founder, packed full of handwritten records, technical engineering equations and notes on the often temperamental machinery.

We instantly knew this lodger would become a cornerstone of the film and the footage we captured of Henry leafing through his father’s notes for the first time in decades, made for emotive viewing. Another cornerstone of the film was the unique location of the business, nestled within the rolling hills and patchwork farmland of Shropshire, which we captured through beautiful drone imagery. Interviewing Henry in the family home, the place that inspired him to start the business, set the tone to celebrate the story of this proudly British family business.

Interwoven throughout the film is super slo-mo footage from the factory floor, celebrating the traditional craftsmanship of the workers; the design team hand-milling a new jewellery design, intercut with macro shots of the vintage chain-making machines during the full production run.

The result is an emotive film which showcases Curteis as an innovative, industry-leading jewellery brand providing customers with a top quality product and service, which still embraces the traditional family values which the brand was formed on half a century ago. The film closes on the latest 50th anniversary collection, positioned within the pages the founders notes, where it started all those years ago.
